What were your previous teaching jobs?
I actually worked at an office before as an interior designer for a few different companies.
Why did you decide to join UHS as a photography teacher?
I definitely want the students to be more involved with the school community. I know that my students are going to be helping out the yearbook teacher, so they will be going around classrooms and school events capturing photos. This is a great way to keep students engaged and learning about photography.
What got you into photography?
It was back when I was in college, towards the end of my career, I liked photoshop. It was actually a class we had to take but, I realized that I enjoyed the program. I also have a friend who did photography when she was in high school. So when I started working at the office, I realized that I didn’t like the office and I preferred photoshop instead. Then I started playing around with a camera.
What did you want to achieve by reintroducing the photography program?
Teaching basic photography skills, aperture, composition, editing. Basic skills we need to know to help kids go on taking photos. I’m also going to teach basic photoshop skills so they can edit their photos in the best possible way.
Why did you become a teacher?
After college, I realized working in an office wasn’t for me. I thought it was boring actually. I later got the opportunity to teach through my best friend. He was a P.E teacher at the time. Although I am still learning so much on teaching, I now know it is a better fit for me.
