The Girls Varsity Volleyball team wrapped up their season with a final record of 6-10. The girls kicked off the season with two wins, but shortly then after, encountered a few troubling games in a row, they beat both Colonial and Oak Ridge 2-0. Despite experiencing a challenging season, the team is making changes and, in turn, improving over time.
As long as you are communicating and trusting teammates, chances of winning increase.“Trust yourself, trust the process and trust the people that surround me, volleyball is nothing without team effort,” said sophomore Lauren Palomeque.
Off the field bonding and talking is great and even have fun group hangouts too while on the court they lag but, “Making a mistake doesn’t mean anything as long as you keep giving your best and you’re more likely going to get the next point so never give up on play and you’ll have a better chance in winning the game,” said senior Destini Jackswon.
Volleyball emphasizes the importance of personal qualities both on and off the court, such as responsibility, respect, time management, and sportsmanship. “The girls plan to continue practicing at home and some in clubs, with some visiting the middle school to teach and evaluate potential new members and to maintain skill levels,” said Coach Guzman.
