Members from the Florida Department of Health attended to inform students about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol for Great American Smokeout day. Student Resource Officer, Robert Kelly warned students about the risks of drunk driving. “We did a demonstration on the dangers of alcoholic influence on the road. We had students wear a pair of drunk simulation goggles which creates the effect that you are under alcohol and ask them to walk a straight line with the goggles on,” said Officer Kelly.
HOSA member Stephen Yu helped out by promoting the event to students. “HOSA Week this year was only one day as opposed to the usual week, but with all the guests and their niche activities packed into one day, it made up for the shorter period of time,” said Yu.
Overall, Hosa Day was a successful event and the organization was able to teach students about the importance of Health.
