Q: What are your plans after graduation?
My plans are to go to UCF because it’s close. I still expect to maintain my level of discipline and continue to put my all into it because I want to have a career where I can support my family and set a good example for my siblings.
Q: What do you plan on majoring in?
I’m going to major in computer science but I aim to focus on something specific. I want to have an expertise in something more niche.
Q: What do you do outside of academics?
For three years I did bowling but I quit this year for personal reasons. I was also in the Green Team and Spanish Honors Society. I did a lot for the Spanish Honors Society such as participating in their hispanic heritage night and putting on the show. Right now instead of doing clubs for senior year I’ve mainly been focusing on volleyball because I want to do that in college.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Being salutatorian is a big accomplishment for me in itself. I spent all that time in highschool doing all this work and you don’t really realize that it pays off until you get a title for it. Personally I wasn’t aiming for salutatorian but after I found out I realized it was a way I could show my parents what I’ve been doing is paying off in the end. This gives them a way to rank what I have done so I can set that example for others around me.
Q: How difficult was becoming salutatorian?
I didn’t take any extra classes, I just did what was required. I wasn’t fighting to become salutatorian I was just doing what I had to in each class. It’s really just trying to get the highest grade possible in the classes you already have. There’s no point in taking extra classes if you’re just gonna fail. It’s more important to put your all into what you’re good at.
