Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: After graduation I plan to travel a lot (I have three vacations planned and I’m so excited) over the summer before I attend UF in the fall. I got accepted into the Honors Program and am really happy because I’m going to room there with my best friend, Amanda Borges. I plan on majoring in Health Science on the pre-med track but to be honest I see myself switching over to any major in the biology/chemistry sector, I just want to wait and find out what I’m passionate about. I really hope to make it to med school one day and from there, we’ll see!
Q: What extracurricular activities do you participate in?
A: I do a lot of clubs, for example I’m in the Science Olympiad team, I’m academic liaison for HOSA, secretary for Spanish Honor Society, and historian for IB Student Council
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: Honestly I don’t know what to say but probably just how great senior year is. I think I had this really big fear that success meant I would have to give a lot up but I found a balance amongst it all. I have the best friends ever, great relationship with my family, fun in all my classes, and I’m just happy overall. I love senior year and all the good memories it’s given me but also I’m confident that this isn’t my peak and that’s something I’m proud of: the fact that I know things will only get better from here.
Q: What work went into becoming valedictorian?
A: Well I’m in IB so that’s a heavy workload on its own, but I’ve taken summer classes every year of high school. Last summer I took 2 APs plus another one during this school year to secure the spot. I know a lot of people wouldn’t think it’s worth it but to be honest it’s not like I ever let this get in the way of hanging out with my friends and the fact that at graduation I get to thank my family in front of thousands of people, it makes all the work worth it.
