Xavielys Cortes is a senior at UHS and is proudly from Carolina, Puerto Rico. This is her first year writing for the school newspaper and her second year in a journalism class. She is looking forward to helping with leadership for The Torch as well as sharpening her writing skills. She enjoys working with a collective that shares stories, keeps the school informed, and gives students a voice. Outside of class, she is a part of the band as a member of colorguard. She also adores the color pink, and her favorite subject to study is history.
