UHS recently wrapped up their yearly Club Rush event on August 14th and 15th. Club Rush took place around the courtyard, near the PAC.
Club Rush is a showcase in which student-led clubs present their organizations to prospective members. During the preparation process, club leaders gathered materials and set up their booths. “I got ready for Club Rush by making sure everything was in order, so I made sure we had all of our supplies before the event. That way nothing was left to figure out on the day of,” said senior HOSA President Niki Jansari. In order to appeal to new recruits, clubs utilized several strategies, such as displaying colorful, eye catching posters and offering sweet treats to students. “We had incentives such as ice pops, which brought more people in,” said Jansari.
As an ongoing annual occurrence, Club Rush follows the same general formula, of which it has deviated from slightly. Some students found this year’s event to be more effective in terms of how it was arranged. “This year, the table was bigger and there were a lot less people. The setup was better than last year, but there were far many more people than last year,” said sophomore Riley Mathis. With a multitude of students scattered across the courtyard, others found it harder to navigate. “I think it was really in a small space so it was difficult to move freely and hard to find the club that you wanted to see,” said sophomore Angelica Herrada.
Among the clubs on exhibition were HOSA, Helping the Homeless, Creative Writing, SGA, Green Team and countless others. “It was an enjoyable experience getting to see all the clubs. Everyone was really eager to get you to join and it was nice to see that everybody was happy with the group they were a part of,” said Herrada
