The Chorus Spring Concert was performed on May 6 in the UHS auditorium, featuring a variety of songs practiced by our chorus, showing their talent and hard work.
The students performed When Memory Fades by Mary Louise Bringle and Fair Phyllis by John Farmer. These two pieces showcased the development of the students’ skills throughout the year. “I am excited to see all of them and the reason is you see development of their voices and their skills and you see growth from the Fall Concert to the Spring Concert,” said Ms. Green before the performance. The Concert Choir boys performed Good Timber by Susan LaBarr, which was performed in an empowering and heartfelt manner.
During the recital, we bid farewell to our seniors and remembered their influence on the rest of the choir, from their leadership to the passion they brought to every performance. “It was really sad, we did a senior slideshow where we showed our freshman year pictures compared to our senior photos and we gave flowers to all the seniors” said Gianna Garcia. As part of the annual tradition, the underclassmen sang The Old Irish Blessing by Kevin Keil to the seniors as another goodbye.
In addition to saying goodbye to the seniors, the event was also a farewell performance for choral director, Mr. Jay Dunn, who has been at UHS for 15 years but now is moving to Georgia. The chorus members were saddened to see him go because of the impact he had on so many students throughout their performing years.
