On April 2nd, the juniors and seniors had half a day dedicated to preparing them for the next step in life through a “Career Advancement” day.
The day would be split into students being in the classroom to have more face to face interactions on how to build a resume and what employers are looking for and be in the cafeteria with M. O’Donal. “ I wanted to be able to do this to keep students on track and feel more prepared about the shift into college since I know that is a stressful time in a students life,” said College and Career specialist Patrick O’Donal.
Students learned how to build a resume and know what employers are looking for in the resumes and how to be able to properly express themselves through their hobbies and interests. “ It was very interesting learning about how to write a resume, I finally understood everything that I didn’t know before. It was really helpful because I wasn’t sure how to actually start a resume and what exactly they are looking for,” said senior Pamela Almonte.
Students were granted the opportunity to experience what it feels like to be in a job interview through asking the students to answer some typical questions in a more relaxed manner that doesn’t overwhelm the students. “It was nice to know that the school was offering resources to make the experience of creating a resume easier,” said senior Joshua Garcia.
