Assistant Principal Tomasi has undertaken the temporary role of acting principal in place of Mr. Ott. This training is designed to give Ms.Tomasi further experience that will guide her into becoming a principal herself in the future.
Tomasi was a UHS dean for one year prior to her two years as an Assistant Principal, before she started taking on this recent role. Tomasi is also a UHS alumna, having graduated from here with an IB Diploma. Tomasi’s current mission is to guide every department, support the assistant principal, and help teachers and students as needed to ensure that everything on campus runs in an orderly fashion. Tomasi had been acting principal for about 2 months now and is expected to finish this role towards the end of April. “The most difficult thing I have found is switching between so many different activities quickly,” said Tomasi. Despite juggling her role as assistant principal and acting principal, Tomasi still remains positive about her work as she continues to keep the school atmosphere organized. “Now, I get to see all departments, I get to help teachers, I get to help all students, I get to be at all events, so that’s really the best part of it,” said Tomasi.
After this internship experience, Tomasi is confident in her ability to take on the role of a principal one day because of Principal Ott’s great teaching skills. “I think I have learned what I need to learn to eventually take on a Principal role,” said Tomasi.
