Apple TV’s original series Severance, created by Dan Erickson and produced by Ben Stiller recently wrapped up its second season with a confirmed season three in the future. Severance debuted on February 18th, 2022 and its second season on January 17th of this year. The show stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout a man who undergone a procedure that split his personality in two distinct sectors, ergo creating an “innie” and “outie” version of himself.
Fans patiently waited over three years for this season of Severance to be released and they were far from disappointed. Severance is a truly unique show with gripping cinematography and a riveting writing-style, the worldbuilding and atmospheric quality of the show truly stands out when you watch. I find myself always wanting to know more about the universe in Severance and about the main characters’ lives and backstories.
This installment answered many questions that were heavy on the minds’ of viewers’ from the previous season, but still left the audience with a plethora of questions following the season finale. The season finale was my favorite episode from this season and I absolutely adored watching everything come to fruition, especially getting to learn more about the antagonist’s motivations. Every actor’s performance was nothing short of incredible and I was particularly impressed witnessing the casts as they switched between their two personalities. The subtle, yet significant differences between their mannerisms was extremely compelling to analyze.
Many viewers complained about the cliffhangers that the episodes ended with, the frustration exacerbated by having to wait a week between releases. I felt that it could get tedious at times when the questions that cliffhangers posed weren’t answered in the next episode or not until the very end of it. Despite this, I still loved this season of Severance and am eagerly awaiting the third season.
