The Girls Track and Field team took third place a meet at East River High school on March 19th to compete against ten other opposing teams, including Oviedo, East River, and Lakewood High School.
Senior Jasmine Fargado placed third out of eight racers in the 800 meter run at the invitational. “I felt like it was a great improvement of how I did from my previous season. I ran an all out 400 meter run, which was followed by a 800 meter run which I was able to clutch in to get my third place spot on the race,” said Fargado.
Sophomore Aniah Gilmer placed second in the 100 meter and the 200 meter run. “ I felt proud of myself being able to produce these results. It felt like the training had paid off,” said Gilmer.
The track team has been able to improve over the season as the athletes gained more experience in their events. “I think this is the strongest track team we have had in a long time and that they will be able to achieve great things,” said Coach Saul Laird.
