Asian Night is an event that occurred February 28th at the PAC from 6:30 to 9:30. This event was created to bring together all the students that want to celebrate Asian culture.
There were performances such as lion dances, instrumental solos, stand up comedy, and bands playing. “I was practicing my guitar solo from late January to late February. I was extremely nervous and anxious when I was performing, which caused me to hesitate and panic. However, during my second attempt, I was more confident, collected, and wanted others to believe in me on stage,” said senior Xiaolan Liu
The lion dance is a performance that requires teamwork between the person that is posing as the head and the person that is the body. The dance overall is 15 minutes of the lion moving, lifting, and bending which requires stamina and concentration. “ For lion dance, I practice every Monday and Wednesday for 2 hours at UCF,” said senior Mike Wong.
Overall, the night had multiple kinds of performances for students to enjoy from the audience of Asian night and the performers as well. “My favorite performance was the JUNKGARDEN band act, they were really energetic and their act felt very professional. This being my last performance had some bittersweet moments because it was a lot of fun performing, but I’ll also miss this experience a lot,” said Wong.
This year’s Asian Night had some new ideas that have not been previously introduced. “ I liked Jacob’s comedy stand up performance. It was my first time seeing something like this at Asian Night and it was my first experience with some of stand up comedy performances,” said Liu.
