Lara Trump recently announced that she will step down from her role as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC). In a post on X (Formerly known as Twitter), Lara said, “The job I came to do is now complete,” and confirmed she would formally resign at the next RNC meeting.
Lara, who is the daughter-in-law of former and imminent President Donald Trump, made the announcement that she could be chosen to fill a potential U.S. Senate seat in Florida. This comes after news that Senator Marco Rubio might be appointed as the next U.S. Secretary of State. In an interview with The Associated Press, Lara said she would “seriously consider” running for the Senate seat. “I want to get all of the information possible,” she stated.
Lara Trump was named RNC co-chair in March after receiving her father-in-law’s endorsement. Her goals focused on fundraising, election integrity, and improving voter turnout. In a statement, she said that all three of these goals were accomplished during her time as RNC co-chair.
Following her announcement, Donald Trump endorsed KC Crosbie, the RNC treasurer, to replace Lara Trump as co-chair, calling her a “tremendous” choice to continue his work with the party.
