The UHS Girls Dance team hosted their first performance of the year on Thursday October 24th. The event took place in the UHS courtyard after school from 2:30-4:30. This event was dedicated to Rosemary Barlow, club sponsor Mr. Ritchie’s mother-in-law who passed away from Alzheimer’s. The entry fee was $3 and all proceeds were donated to fund Alzheimer’s support.
In addition to the new outfits that were designed for this dance, which featured a tribute to Barlow, the girls also decorated their shirts in celebration for the Boot Game celebrating Crush Colonial. “I was excited to perform this because it was our first time performing in front of people this year, but also a little nervous because of that,” said sophomore Zarai Vera. The Dance Team will perform again at the Pep Rally this Friday with a Flash Mob. “We’re very happy to do this for a good cause, I feel like we raised a lot of money,” said sophomore Serriah Davis.
Practicing hard and working together as a collective is a crucial part of positive performance, but having the right mindset can make a big difference. “We’ve been practicing this choreography for the past couple days and it’s also good to think positively about why we’re doing it instead of being nervous,” said sophomore Jayda Rivera. In total, the event raised 165 dollars for the cause.
