Last week from October 21st to 25th, UHS’ celebrated their annual Crush Colonial week. Our school hosted in anticipation for the football boot game on Friday, October 25th.
SGA was in charge of fundraising for the week, they collected donations during lunch to raise money for the ADORE Pet Rescue. When asked why our school chose to support this cause, Lee said “Our school chose the fundraiser since they had no more space for any more dogs.” UHS is hoping to provide enough profit to the charity to help tackle this issue.
SGA members went around during lunches with dogs in tow to gather donations from fellow students. They hosted many other activities in the courtyard, such as pieing the staff, jail bail, and drenching the grenadier. “Our vet class has allowed SGA to use our dogs to bring awareness, and encourage those who have money to donate,” said junior Emily Lee. “We had dogs because the charity is about the pets and people will be more inclined to donate.”
Crush Colonial week been an enjoyable outlet for school spirit, all while raising money for an honorable cause. Students have donated a lot of money, with our school raising a total of $2,400, and successfully beating Colonial in for amount of money raised. Our Varsity football team unfortunately lost the game to Colonial. However, the team put up a tough match with a final score of 22-28.
