UHS just concluded its annual Club Rush showcase. This event took place in the courtyard last week during both A and B lunches.
During Club Rush, various clubs and organizations set up booths, encouraging students to join them. “It was a positive experience overall. A lot of people showed up and expressed interest in our club. We welcomed 25 new members,” said Helping the Homeless Vice President, junior Ana Ordonez. This event is especially useful for underclassmen who are new to the school and interested in extracurriculars. “I joined two clubs during Club Rush, Latinos In Action and SCC,” said Kamila Pabon sophomore.
Some students expressed disappointment in certain aspects of this year’s event. “There wasn’t much of an announcement about it. I think more people would have shown up if they advertised it better. It wasn’t very organized,” said freshman Noah Climaco. The intense heat was another challenge and a few students shared that they would have preferred the comfort of the AC. “I found it kind of hard to navigate and it was really hot outside,” said sophomore Val Boye.
Regardless of these drawbacks, this year’s Club Rush provided many students with an opportunity get involved. “Everyone was very helpful. I was interested in joining more clubs and I was able to sign up for Key Club,” said junior Brooke Piper.
