S.A.F.E Coordinator Ms. Rosenthal has partnered with club members in FFA, SGA, and HOSA to create a “Cougar Closet” for UHS students seeking supplies.
The Cougar Closet aims to provide students in need with a wide variety of essential items. Ranging from clothing, food, hygiene products, and other various items. “It’s called the Cougar Closet and we have a bunch of clothes. We have prom dresses, homecoming dresses, shoes, hygiene products, food, mostly canned food, some snacks for any of our student population. It doesn’t have to be a homeless student or students in need, it can be any student,” said Ms. Rosenthal.
When a student is interested in something from the Cougar Closet, they can simply set up an appointment with Rosenthal. “If students are in need of any of these items, it can be discreet, where if they come to me they can meet with me and I can take them up there myself because I know sometimes students are embarrassed to have to go get hygiene products or clothes, so that they can get the items they need without others knowing,” said Rosenthal.
The Cougar Closet is now fully accessible to students. “I’m excited to announce the Cougar Closet is fully up and running! This has been a labor of love and many hours went into building the closet from scratch. Thank you to HOSA, Helping the Homeless, FFA, SGA, and individual staff members who helped us accomplish this and donated! We are now fully stocked with items!,” said Rosenthal.
