The Boys basketball team season ended with a 22-6 record. This season, the team was the District champion beating Hagerty in the semi-finals with a score of 73-57 and beating Winter Park in the finals with a score of 37-32.
After winning Districts, the team went on to play in regional where they battled Apopka and won 57-48. This makes this the furthest basketball has made it in 10 years. “It feels great. I mean I dreamed about this as a freshman and to finally live it up felt amazing. I think we really came together as a team and executed well this season,” said senior Ethan Adams.
The basketball team would prepare everyday after school by running scrimmages and working on strategies that would be effective against the other teams. “I think our team was extremely prepared, coach Bailey always does a great job of preparing us for teams and their schemes. I felt the most prepared for Hagerty as both the coach and I have connections there and we knew exactly how to attack them,” said junior Hudson Maurer.
This year’s win at Districts earned the team their fourth District champion title. “The years that they were District champion were 2013, 2018, 2021, and now 2024. I’m very proud of this team for making it to the sweet 16 of Regionals for the first time,” said Coach David Bailey
