The Orange Technical College East Campus, which first started construction on Nov. 8 of this year, is scheduled to open sometime in December, 2024. Orange County Public Schools originally targeted January 2025 as the opening date for the $64 million dollar campus, however it has since been pulled back to today’s date. The new campus is said to replace OTC’s Winter Park campus located at 901 W. Webster Ave., and house around 1,000 students total on a roughly 100,000-square-foot grounds.
According to the Orlando Business Journal, the campus is said to also accommodate a number of different programs, including: arts, AV, technology communications, business management and administration, information technology, including applied cybersecurity, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+, enterprise desktop and mobile support; gaming and simulation, modeling simulation design and production. Alongside classrooms and computer labs, the campus will also incorporate a recording studio and a motion-capture lab
The new campus is a part of a larger OTC construction project, with another $64 million dollar campus also under construction at Ocoee.
Additional renovations and construction projects are also underway at UHS. The culinary kitchen renovation is said to be ‘near completion’, however building code inspections keep the opening date ambiguous. Although there is no set opening date for culinary, it is expected to open sometime this year, according to UHS Principal Thomas Ott.
Renovations on the Orchestra & Dance rooms are also underway, with the Orchestra room pending code inspection before being able to open. No set date has been announced for either. Additionally, the gym & softball field are receiving new scoreboards. No set date has also been announced for either of the scoreboard installations.
