Hogwarts Legacy is a Beautiful New Addition to the Harry Potter Universe

Cricket Wainman, Staff Writer

Hogwarts Legacy is a newly released and highly popular video game that came out on February 10th. The open world RPG set in the Harry Potter Universe in the 1800s, allows players to customize a character and follow them through their 5th year at Hogwarts as a transfer student during a mission to defeat the leader of a goblin uprising.

In multiple quests through the castle, Hogsmeade, and surrounding areas, there are hidden quests, beasts and creatures to capture, and goblin and poacher camps to raid. Hogwarts Legacy also has spells that you complete quests to learn, which are used in the duels and fights between other magical beings, or for puzzles spread around the world. There are also many characters in the game you can interact with including students and professors at Hogwarts, along with the shop owners and people in Hogsmeade.

Hogwarts Legacy stands out from other games that the studio has created in terms of the production and budget, however many people were wary of handing a big project to a studio that wasn’t well-known or that usually deals with the RPG that Hogwarts Legacy is. But Avalanche Software has done a great job on it and has exceeded the expectations of Harry Potter fans and gamers around the world, and has sold over 500,000 copies just on Steam, not counting the Playstation and other console versions that it is available on. The visuals of the game are too beautiful not to stop and look at, and by immersing the player into it, it is easy to play for hours on end.
