Tyler Roberts Keeps Breaking Records
December 6, 2022
Tyler Roberts has had an outstanding season this year, breaking a 100m breaststroke at the Florida Aquatic Swimming and Training Center. “The original time was 1:01:81 and the new time is now 1:00:43,” said Roberts.
The season ended last month for Roberts who had an outstanding performance at States, even after recovering from the flu the week before the competition. “I had a 103 fever throughout that whole week of rest. I didn’t even go to school,” said Roberts.
Roberts also suffered a suit malfunction resulting in his not being able to compete in the race. “Right before the race my suit broke, and so I had to quickly run to the officials and tell them my suit broke, and then they put me in my heat.”
Roberts still had the opportunity to swim that day and had the support of the people who attended the race. “I was in front of a couple of 100 people, a bunch of different scouts and teams, everyone was cheering me on.”
Although Roberts had these odds stacked against him, he still earned a 1:01:43 in the 100m backstrokes.“I was nervous, but It was a nice experience to have the final high school meet, just something to go out with a bang with.”
Roberts is still planning to swim after graduation and is looking into colleges to keep living his passion for swimming. “I plan to attend FAU or Indian State College because they have a swim team.”
